'The View' Art Gallery

For 2010, as part of the Renaissance of the Cuillin Hills Hotel we are delighted to unveil our new addition to the Hotel: 'The View' Art Gallery.

The Gallery is situated next to the Drawing Room and also contains the new-look two AA-rosetted Restaurant of the Cuillin Hills.

The bespoke interior design in tasteful shades of ivory and grecian whites form a sublime backdrop for the best fine-art that Skye has to offer and exhibitions rotate on a six monthly cycle.  During the day from 10am till 4pm the Gallery is open for viewing the latest exhibition and from 6.30pm onwards it reopens on a private viewing basis for people dining within 'The View' Restaurant.

Dominating the Gallery is a huge fine-art photograph specially commissioned by the hotel of the 'Old Man of Storr' by the acclaimed photographer Alan Campbell.

'The View' is a Gallery and an award winning Restaurant offering an unparalleled dining experience with views over Portree Bay towards the Cuillin mountain ranges: 'The View' by name and by Nature.

Diana Mackie's work is the basis of our second exhibition and her breath-taking oil paintings show the land and seascapes of Skye off to dramatic effect: Swirling clouds, changing weather conditions, boiling or tranquil seas and the domination of the mountains.

Also on show is the reknowned ceramicist Ian Williams from the Brae Fasach Gallery in Waternish.  Ian is showing his ceramics that took him to a place in the final of the Bi-Annual Championships for 2008/2009 in Korea - a talent to look out for indeed.
