The Malt Embassy:
A welcoming vista, if not a visa, to our national tipple
The Cuillin Hills Hotel is delighted to be chosen as an Embassy byScotlandWhisky and a stay is central to experiencing malt whisky. We were specially selected by ScotlandWhisky – which was launched in September 2003 by Jim Wallace MSP, the then Deputy First Minister, and Ian Good, Chairman of the Scotch Whisky Association. The project is a partnership between the public and private sectors, with the aim of exploring where the Tourism and Scotch whisky industries can work together to realise mutual commercial benefits. The Scotch Whisky Association, The Scotch Whisky Experience, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and VisitScotland support it.
The Cuillin Hills Hotel has its own dedicated Malt Bar called the Malt Embassy within its informal dining area where you can relax and enjoy from our ever-expanding selection of over 130 malt whiskies. These malts cover all the main whisky producing regions of Scotland and range from the entry level malts from well known distilleries to some very exclusive and rare expressions – such as the Talisker® Silent Stills from the 1950s and the Glenmorangie Chateau Margaux finish. Best of all, perhaps, is to enjoy one of our malts along with our exclusive “Cuillin Hills Blend” coffee, which was specially blended to complement the malts of Scotland.

This dedicated Malt Embassy is dominated by a wall of glass – behind which are the precious bottles of malt. The Malt Embassy is an inviting raised area dressed in the autumnal amber hues of whisky: chocolate thistle wallpaper from ‘Timorous Beasties’ of Glasgow clad the walls; a dog-tooth check carpet, echoes the famous Harris Tweed and a commissioned steel balustrade of thistles shield you within the bar. Relax in one of the caramel suede chairs and enjoy the amber nectars on offer, or if you are unsure which to try Peter has thoughtfully put together ‘Whisky Flights’ offering three malts to try at a discounted price from a carefully selected list.

Our Malt Embassy is a statement of Scotland’s quality and we are pleased to offer our services, as an Embassy, to give you a welcoming vista, if not a visa, to our national tipple from our Cuillin Consulate. Slainte mhath*, as we say in Scotland*Definition:(Scottish Gaelic) cheers, good health
