Molly is the Cuillin Hill's Canine Consultant on the Great Outdoors of the Isle of Skye.
We asked her to give her opinion on her favourite walks so that you too can enjoy them - with or without a canine chum. These walks can be downloaded in PDF format for you to print off and take with you and to add to your enjoyment Molly has rated them out of 5 PawMarks as to their enjoyment - though her criteria is unknown and any opinion expressed by her is not necessarily endorsed by the Cuillin Hills Hotel or anyone else for that matter.
Molly would like to point out the following points before you set out:
- Make sure you have the proper footwear and clothes for the weather – your dog will be fine, it’s you that needs to think.
- Your canine chums will benefit from you remembering their lead, hygiene bags (poop sacks), a biscuit or two, and if out for the day a bottle of water and a travel bowl. Remember the Cuillin Hills Hotel can supply you with all these.
- Sometimes you will see a sign saying "No Dogs" this is because of stock animals on the land - please be aware and sympathetic to the sheep. Dogs must be kept on close command or on a leash (see the "Outdoor Access Code" for further details.
- Remember the countryside Code – or as we call it in Scotland the ‘Outdoor Access Code’. You can download a copy by clicking here – but you need to read it, as neither your dog or I can.
Please remember to check out the likely weather conditions and the Met Office can be rung on 09068 500 425 to check on the weather over the next 48 hours for the West Highlands & Islands1 or ask the nice ladies at the Hotel's reception, they always seem to know.
