Talisker Distillery
On the shores of Loch Harport, the village of Carbost is home to Skye’s only distillery producing a wonderfully powerful and award winning Island malt bottled at above average strength.
Dunvegan Castle has been the stronghold of the Chiefs of MacLeod for nearly 800 years and it remains their home. Built on a Rock once surrounded entirely by salt water, it is unique in Scotland as the only house of such antiquity to have retained its family throughout the centuries.
Based in Kyleakin on Skye, the centre covers topics including the flora and fauna of the island, the lighthouse and local history (including stories recorded in Gaelic and English). It is a highly interactive centre with lots to see and do for all ages.

Skyeskyns, manufacturers and suppliers of finest quality sheepskins, is a family business established on the Isle of Skye in 1983. In its dramatic Highland setting, visitors to Scotland’s traditional exhibition tannery witness time-honoured methods of making leather and can browse perhaps the most comprehensive range of luxurious natural sheepskins and sheepskin products to be found anywhere.
In an old croft house on the Portree Road a mile from DunveganCastle is Skye’s longest running working studio, established in 1968.Here the Budge family, Pamela, Donald and Daisy offer a delightful mix of original landscapes, wildlife studies, flower paintings and paintings on silk. They also specialise in Celtic Art and you’ll find beautifully illuminated Initials from ancient manuscripts alongside paintings from Celtic Mythology and Legends of Skye.
